The future of space technology in focus at AMESC 2025

 

On the 5th of February, the Africa-Middle East Space Conference (AMESC 2025) kicked off at University Mohammed VI Polytechnic Campus in Rabat, bringing together regional and international space leaders.

Organized by the Moroccan Initiative for the Space Industry (MISI) with key partners, the event featured discussions on space exploration, regional cooperation, and technological advancements. Speakers included Riyad Mezzour, Moroccan Minister of Industry and Trade, Salim El Malik, Director General of ICESCO, and Aimee Cutrona, Chargée d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Morocco.

The conference welcomed Dorothy Metcalf-Lindenburger, retired NASA astronaut, and Colonel Galen Ojala, U.S. Space Forces Europe and Africa, highlighting Morocco’s growing role in the space sector. This initiative aligns with Morocco’s ambition to develop a competitive space industry through research, innovation, and satellite technology.
