Launch of the 2nd edition of Genomics Hands-On Training in AGC

The second edition of the Hands-On Genomics training, as part of the Africa BioGenome Project Workshop, was conducted during October 2023. Organized by the African Genome Center (AGC) in collaboration with Illumina and Megaflex, the workshop brought together 16 participants, including PhDs from various universities in Morocco. These participants were selected out of more than 200 candidates.

Over the course of three days, attendees had the opportunity to learn about whole genome sequencing on the NextSeq 550 platform, using potato as a model crop. On the third day, they were introduced to Genome assembly and annotation using advanced bioinformatics.

This collaboration between AGC, Africa BioGenome Project, Illumina, and Megaflex showcases their dedication to advancing genomic research and promoting scientific excellence in Morocco and Africa. The workshop also provided a platform for the genomics community to come together, discuss relevant topics, and exchange innovative ideas.
