Professors from the College of Computing discussed AI’s impact on health and energy at 1st edition of the Mediterranean Forum in Marseille
On the 15th of November, the College of Computing participated in the 1st edition of the Mediterranean Forum on Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the Velodrome in Marseille.
Organized by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, the forum gathered researchers and companies to explore AI solutions to regional challenges such as health, climate, water, agriculture, and energy.
In a session moderated by Prof. Cédric Villani, Professors Lamiae Azizi and Achraf El Allali discussed AI’s role in medicine and health, including genomics and diagnostics, and its potential when combined with quantum computing. Prof. Azizi also presented AI’s applications in smart grids, renewable energy, and storage. During a lunch with Minister Clara Chappaz, they discussed fostering a Mediterranean collaborative AI ecosystem.
