Universities called for inclusive AI in message to G7 with UM6P contribution

On the 25th of April, University Mohammed VI Polytechnic, represented by Mr. Khalid Baddou, participated in the U7+ Alliance Summit hosted by the University of Ottawa. The summit brought together over 50 universities committed to addressing global challenges through academic collaboration.

A joint communiqué, to be addressed to G7 leaders, was adopted by the alliance. It outlines the role of universities in the governance of artificial intelligence, with recommendations co-developed by a working group co-chaired by Prof. Lamiae Azizi (UM6P) and Prof. Valérie Amiraux (Université de Montréal). Key themes included AI workforce development, inclusive innovation, policy frameworks, and bridging the global AI divide.

UM6P also shared its recent AI initiatives, including its UNESCO-recognized AI Movement, the deployment of ChatGPT Edu, and the African Women in Tech and AI program, which aims to train 150 women across the continent.
