This initiative is part of the deployment of the Plan for the Recovery of Trade 2021-2023, which includes among its strategic axes the consolidation of best practices in trade through digitalization, the importance of which has raised collective awareness during the health crisis of Covid-19. Its objective is to support a hundred or so project leaders in the development of innovative digital solutions for the benefit of local commerce, which needs simple and accessible digital tools that will enable it to modernize and improve its added value.
This support will be provided from the ideation and prototyping phase to the market launch and acceleration phase by 2023.
By promoting the dissemination of digital solutions adapted to the needs of retailers and consumers, the project responds to the need to promote the digital transition of trade professionals as an essential lever for the growth and competitiveness of the sector
"In accordance with the Royal High Directions to accelerate the digital transformation of the national economy, the development of an innovative and dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem in the trade sector is a priority," said Minister Moulay Hafid Elalamy, on the occasion. He added that "through the support of Moroccan entrepreneurs with digitalization projects in this sector and the strengthening of their capacity for innovation, we aim to take advantage of the digital tool for growth and competitiveness of the sector.
For his part, Mr. Hicham El Habti, President of UM6P said: "Given the importance of the trade sector in the national economy, we contribute our ecosystem of support for startups to this new project. Through this partnership, we confirm our willingness to continue to support the efforts of the public authorities, in line with the priorities of UM6P, which are based on innovation, training and entrepreneurship.
The MRTB, jointly funded by the OCP Foundation and the Ministry of Industry, Trade and the Green and Digital Economy, will be housed in the UM6P innovation ecosystem, which hosts a range of incubation and acceleration programs to enable project leaders to benefit from an environment conducive to their development.
