UM6P joining forces with Arizona University

On May 19th, UM6P’s commitment to international academic cooperation gained further momentum. Leading a special delegation from the Grand Canyon State, University of Arizona President Robert C. Robbins paid a visit to our Benguerir campus to seal a multifaceted strategic agreement in mutual areas of interest. 

Signed by Mr. Robbins and UM6P President Hicham El Habti, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions identifies key areas for joint programs and research. These include, but are not limited to: 

•    Mining
•    Agriculture: long-term sustainable use of arid and semiarid lands and water resources management
•    Information & Data Science
•    Machine Learning
•    Energy & Batteries
•    Nursing

Academic collaboration in these various subjects will take shape in different forms pertaining to education, research, innovation and training:

•    Exchanges of students and academic staff; 
•    Joint research activities, including projects, seminars, conferences and public lectures;
•    Joint research funding applications; 
•    Exchange of publications, academic materials and other information;
•    Collaborative degree programs at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels; 
•    Access for PhD and master’s students enrolled at a university and staff members to the facilities of each university required to conduct the Project; 
•    Participation in PhD and master’s by Research programs; 
•    Joint quality assurance and benchmarking;
•    Special short-term academic programs; 
•    Staff development projects; 
•    Online Education & Digital Learning. 

Located in Tuscon, Arizona, the University of Arizona (UA) was founded in 1885. The first ever university in Arizona Territory, UA is today home to 20 colleges, schools and departments covering liberal arts, sciences, agriculture, architecture, engineering, business and public administration, and education.
