UM6P's ReBuild Initiative and CAES held seed distribution at Al Haouz region
From the 18th to the 27th of October, ReBuild Initiative and the CEAS, in partnership with the British NGO Global Diversity Foundation, completed a seed distribution program in the earthquake-affected districts of Ighil, Talat N'Yaaqoub, Ijoukak, and Imegdal.
Over 61 tonnes of locally adapted, regenerative seeds—including barley, fava beans, peas, carrots, and coriander—were provided to strengthen food security and promote biodiversity in the Atlas region. These seeds enable farmers to grow and save their own stocks each season, fostering seed sovereignty and resilience.
Researchers from CAES engaged with farmers to understand their techniques and challenges while exploring ways to leverage UM6P's scientific resources to support sustainable agriculture. This project underscores UM6P's commitment to ecological and agricultural innovation, aligning local knowledge with sustainable farming practices for the Atlas region.
