The Chair of Soil Science represented UM6P during Phosphorus Week 2022

Three members of the Chair of Soil Science were invited to present their research work during ‘Phosphorus Week’ in the United States in early November. This scientific event is a combination of the Sustainable Phosphorus Summit and the annual Phosphorus Forum which brings together knowledge leaders from around the world to interact on topics related to phosphorus sustainability.

Professor Leonardus Vergütz gave an oral presentation about phosphorus distribution and speciation at micro-scale in a long-term Brazilian trial. Postdoctoral Researcher Dr. Elton Novais spoke about the bioavailability of legacy phosphorus in a long-term cultivated Brazilian Cerrado Oxisol under different tillage systems and fertilization management. Postdoctoral Researcher Dr. Daniel Dall’Orsoletta presented a scientific poster about his upcoming review on the role of phosphorus as a soil health enabler. During this week Dr. Elton Novais also acted as the Session Lead, introducing the event and facilitating audience questions and answers.

Phosphorus Week was a great opportunity to network and share knowledge with diverse organizations and people interested in improving phosphorus sustainability all along the phosphorus value chain. Congratulations to our team on representing us at this international event.
