Launch of the "Development Methodologies" Summer School at UM6P Rabat Campus
From 4 to 7 July, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, in partnership with the “Agence Française de Développement” (AFD), the Abdul Latif Jameel Laboratory for Action against Poverty (J-PAL), the Fund for Innovation in Development (FID) and the Morocco Employment Lab (MEL), organized a summer school on the theme of "Development Methodologies", at UM6P campus in Rabat.
This year's event included an inaugural conference and discussions on public policy. The event was opened by the President Mr. Hicham El Habti, H.E. Mr. Christophe Lecourtier, French Ambassador to Morocco, and Mr. Thomas Mélonio, Executive Director of Innovation, Strategy and Research at AFD.
Subsequently, Mr. Chakib Benmoussa, Minister of National Education, Pre-school and Sports, gave a speech followed by an inaugural presentation on education by Prof. Esther Duflo, winner of the Nobel Prize for Economics and co-founder of J-PAL. This event highlighted the importance of innovation and the use of research findings to improve the quality of education and define public policy in Morocco. The event was also attended by Mr. Abhijit Banerjee, winner of the Nobel Prize for Economics, and Mr. Younes Sekkouri, Minister for Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills.
