UGF received new Managing Director of the Senegalese Agency for Reforestation and the Great Green Wall

Last week, UGF (Unité de Gestion des Fonds) welcomed Mr. Sekouna Diatta, the newly appointed Managing Director of the Senegalese Agency for Reforestation and the Great Green Wall (ASRGM), accompanied by Colonel Gora Diop, within UM6P Campus in Benguerir. 

 

This visit aimed to discuss the progress and future direction of the Great Green Wall program. The Great Green Wall initiative focuses on key research areas including water, soil, reforestation, and energy. the program's objectives are to:

 

  • Identify Effective Solutions: Develop relevant and impactful strategies to tackle the unique challenges along the Great Green Wall route.

 

  • Foster Innovation and Creativity: Promote innovative approaches and creative solutions tailored to meet the specific needs and constraints of the Great Green Wall.

 

  • Ensure Sustainability: Guarantee the longevity of proposed solutions by considering environmental, economic, and social factors.

 

The visit provided a valuable opportunity to align on these challenging goals and reinforce the commitment to sustainable development and environmental conservation in the region.
