UM6P launches "The Voice of Africa" to raise Africa's voice on the sidelines of the World Bank Group and IMF Annual Meetings
Benguerir, September 21st, 2023 - From October 10th to 14th, 2023, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) is organizing "The Voice of Africa", a series of conferences gathering leaders, scientists and leading economic figures, addressing crucial challenges such as food security, sustainable development, and entrepreneurship in Africa.
Alongside the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund Annual Meetings, "The Voice of Africa" side event aims to highlight African challenges to an international audience. UM6P, as a global development ecosystem focused on knowledge, excellence, research and innovation, is seizing this opportunity to convey Africa's voice on crucial stakes to Africa's development, such as:
· Enhancing food security, through sustainable agriculture,
· Sustainability, by positioning Africa as a provider of sustainable energy solutions,
· Entrepreneurship, by creating a fertile ecosystem for innovative entrepreneurs and providing the necessary financing for their development.
The Voice of Africa program also includes thematic days dedicated to the cultural and creative industries as well as the African diaspora. These events are not open to Annual Meeting participants only, but also to the national and international publics.
These events will bring together eminent figures including Nobel Peace Prize and World Food Prize winner Rattan Lal, renowned for his research on soil and food security, the prominent economist and writer Jacques Attali, the soil expert Daniel Nahon, Alpha Barry, CEO of Atos Afrique, and Silvia Massruhà, President of EMBRAPA, a company committed to improving agriculture and environmental sustainability.
During the same week, UM6P will welcome participants in its Solutions Village, a platform showcasing the most advanced technological innovations, those with a significant impact on the African agricultural sector.
The discussions during "The Voice of Africa" aspires to bringAfrican challenges to the agenda of international negotiations at the Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the IMF taking place in Marrakech from October 9th to 13th. It is also a contribution from UM6P to the discussions related to the African Union's Agenda 2063.
