This international chair helps train a new generation of engineers to exploit Data Science and develop innovative industrial processes.
Benguerir, December 20, 2018 - École Polytechnique (Paris) and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (Benguerir) announced the launch, with the support of the OCP Group and the Fondation de l'X, of an international chair on "Data Science & Industrial Processes".
This chair, led by Éric Moulines, Professor of Statistics at the École Polytechnique and a member of the Paris Academy of Sciences, was officially launched on Thursday, December 20, at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P).
Frank Pacard, Director of Education and Research at the École Polytechnique, Iliass El Fali, Executive Vice President of the OCP Group, Hicham El Habti, Secretary General of the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, Nicolas Cheimanoff, Director of the UM6P School of Industrial Management (EMINES) and Jean-Bernard Lartigue, General Delegate of the École Polytechnique Foundation proceeded with this launch. This international chair helps train a new generation of engineers to exploit Data Science and develop innovative industrial processes.
Through the teaching activities of the Chair, the partners wish to jointly prepare students to become industry innovators and to develop the industrial processes of tomorrow through data sciences.
This Chair allows to develop two parallel programs co-built and co-developed in partnership with the École polytechnique and the UM6P:

  • The first in initial training is a new eight-week intensive course focusing on concrete applications and integrating the training curriculum of EMINES, one of the UM6P institutions, in the form a "Data Science" option. It is intended for final year engineering students while being open to a wider audience, including young engineers in professional situations.
  • A second academic program will be set up for future UM6P teachers in order to reinforce the faculty expertise of the "Data Science & Industrial Processes" option, particularly, the development of real-world application cases at the service of training.
