MAHIR Center students dived into art and culture with Griot Mbemba Diabaté
Over this week at MAHIR Center, students are continuing their exploration of the significance of stories and storytelling as they met with the griot Mbemba Diabaté during an afternoon rich in stories, culture, and music.
Mr. Diabaté offered insights into the history and contemporary role of the griots. The students are applying these discoveries in hands-on art and video workshops led by fashion designer Angeline Dangelser and director Oualid Ayoub. To share what they've learned, they have organized and facilitated four workshops for UM6P students and staff as part of their cultural initiative KULTCHRE, featuring poetry readings, music, drawing, photography, and a film screening with a discussion session.
