UM6P and Al Akhawayn University Launch a New Master's Degree Dedicated to High Performance Computing

Contribute to the development of the medical and financial sector: this is the motivation behind the new Master in High Performance Computing dedicated to Artificial Intelligence (AI) that  will be launched jointly by Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane (AUI) and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), for the 2021-2022 academic year.

This collaboration concretizes one of the main axes of the strategic partnership between the two institutions, signed in September 2020. The new program will capitalize on the computing power offered by the UM6P's Toubkal supercomputer and the expertise of the teams at the two universities in the field of AI and High-Performance Computing (HPC), for purposes of deep learning and digital simulation. In concrete terms, this Master's program aims to train future specialists who will be able to design, develop and deliver sophisticated AI models based on big data for the growing needs of several national industries.

"Our ambition is to equip Morocco with skills and technologies that can contribute to the development of AI designed to meet the needs of the financial and engineering sector, before extending it to other sectors of activity," said AUI President, Dr. Amine Bensaid. For his part, Hicham El Habti, President of UM6P said: "We are convinced that the union of forces between Al Akhawayn and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University can bring great added value to training and scientific research in Morocco. This Master's degree is a first step among several other major initiatives that will follow soon.
