UM6P took part in ACS summer program focused in promoting green and sustainable chemistry

From the 27th of July to the 1st of August, UM6P took part in the ACS Green and Sustainable Chemistry Summer School at the University of Vermont through the participation of Professor Youssef Habibi, Chair of the Sustainable Materials Program, as an invited instructor.

The summer school brought together 60 graduate students and postdoctoral researchers from across the Americas for a week-long program on green and sustainable chemistry. During one of the sessions, Professor Youssef Habibi included a 90-minute lecture on the exploitation of renewable and recycled resources as a means of greening chemical feedstocks. The session also featured a personal reflection on the instructor’s journey since participating in the 2009 edition of the program.

In addition, a brief overview was provided on UM6P and OCP Group’s efforts to promote sustainable development across the African continent. This contribution highlighted UM6P’s growing engagement in global scientific dialogue and its commitment to expanding sustainability-focused training through initiatives such as GreenChemAfrica.
