Green Energy Park hosted the final of the Solar Decathlon Africa Design Challenge 2024

 

On the 6th of June, the final of the Solar Decathlon Africa Design Challenge 2024 was held at the Green & Smart Building Park, organized by Green Energy Park, the Institute for Research in Solar Energy and New Energies (IRESEN), and University Mohammed VI Polytechnic, under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development of the Kingdom of Morocco and with support from the United States Department of Energy (US DoE). 

This international event brought together over 250 students and researchers from six countries, representing more than 70 universities to design innovative net-zero energy buildings tailored to Africa's specific needs, emphasizing climate resilience, accessibility, and community well-being.

Participants presented prototypes of high-performance, self-sufficient houses incorporating cutting-edge technologies and sustainable construction practices. The event highlighted the potential of young international talents to transform the sustainable architecture sector, with innovative projects serving as models for future green building and sustainable development initiatives.
