Mohammed VI Polytechnic University & Sumitomo Corporation sign a Memorandum of Understanding

Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) and Sumitomo Corporation through its principal subsidiary, Sumitomo Corporation Europe Limited, have signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MoU) to jointly collaborate in the framework of large scale supply chains of Green hydrogen and ammonia.

This MoU concerns large-scale supply chains of green hydrogen and ammonia to satisfy Moroccan needs and other demands in Europe, Africa and other regions. It entails investigation and analysis of domestic and external logistics, export terminal, storage, and potential off-takers.

In terms of sectors, this collaboration will extend to the fields of Agritech, Agriculture and Decarbonisation.

"Through this agreement, UM6P confirms its desire to make green hydrogen an industrial reality in Morocco. We are proud to collaborate with Sumitomo Corporation to study the development of the future large-scale green hydrogen and ammonia supply chain for storage, transport and distribution from the best production location of green ammonia in the south of Morocco to Industrial OCP sites, to Europe, Africa and other regions." said Mr. Mohamed BOUSSETA, Director of Innovate for Industry at UM6P.

Mr. Ko AKIYAMA, General Manager of Energy Innovation Initiative at Sumitomo Corporation Europe Limited, added: “We are very proud to have signed this MOU with UM6P. We see Green Hydrogen and Ammonia as key solutions for a decarbonised society and we believe that Morocco has significant potential and an important role to meet the future demands in Europe, and other neighbouring countries. We are confident that our collaboration with UM6P will advance important studies and lead initiating the future large-scale Green Hydrogen and Ammonia supply chains from Morocco as well as other joint work potential for decarbonization.”
