UJALA launched the African Scholars Program to strengthen African-led agricultural research

On the 17th of September, the UM6P-J-PAL Applied Lab for Agriculture (UJALA) officially launched the UJALA African Scholars Program at UM6P Campus in Rabat.

The initiative is designed to strengthen the role of African researchers in producing policy-relevant evidence to improve small-scale agriculture and food security. The program aims to support African-led research through training, mentorship, funding, and practical experience, fostering a new generation of scholars driving impact across the continent.

More than 70 PhD students and faculty members from UM6P gathered to explore how randomized evaluations can shape more effective agricultural policies. Discussions covered input subsidy design, technology adoption, and extension services while also providing a platform for young researchers to connect with peers and senior academics.

Applications for the first cohort are open until the 1st of October 2025.
