UN food security experts met at UM6P to discuss resilience and governance

On the 2^nd and the 4^th of April, UM6P welcomed the High-Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition (HLPE-FSN) of the UN Committee on World Food Security (CFS) for its annual meeting at UM6P Campus in Benguerir, which included a workshop on “Resilience and Urban & Peri-Urban Food Systems” on April 3^rd.

The session brought together HLPE-FSN members, international experts, and local stakeholders to discuss crisis-proof food systems, guided by findings from HLPE-FSN Reports No. 19 and the upcoming No. 20.  The discussions reflected on takeaways from Morocco’s 2023 Al Haouz earthquake and emphasized disaster preparedness, governance, and resilient food supply chains.

Participants also visited UM6P’s innovation spaces—1337, StartGate, and the Phenotyping Platform—to explore applied solutions in sustainable food security.
